YOU MUST BE ON TIME FOR YOUR FIRST CLASS.
WE WILL NOT LET YOU GO INTO CLASS LATE FOR YOUR FIRST TIME.

What to expect from your first class.

First of all congratulate yourself for making the decision to join us.
By practicing Bikram Yoga regularly you will change your life in the most wonderful ways.

It is normal to feel a bit nervous or scared. Just know that most people feel this way, but don't let that stop you. Bikram Yoga is designed for beginners and as long as you relax and let the teacher guide you, you will meet with success from the very beginning.

How to prepare for class.
Drink plenty of water. In fact the water you drink today benefits you tomorrow so stay hydrated all the time. When you come be prepared to sweat, but by being fully hydrated the heat will feel comfortable not overwhelming. Remember that coffee and alcohol are dehydrating.
Come to class on an empty stomach.
Dress in cool comfortable clothing. Avoid long pants and long sleeves and things made of cotton. Dress as if you were going to the beach on a beautiful summer day. By the way, that is what it is like in the room
especially in the winter.

Bikram Yoga is for everyone!
To quote Bikram "Never too old, never too sick never too late to start from scratch."
Begin your day with these words and you will start a new life everyday.
Listen carefully to the instructions of your teacher and approach every posture to the best of your ability and you will receive 100% of the benefits. Bikram Yoga teachers are extremely well trained,
and teach always with compassion and respect.

Come to class without expectations of what you have to achieve.
Yoga is about healing and making your body healthy and strong. It is not about who does the best posture. There is no judgment in yoga class. There is no perfect posture.

What if I am out of shape or  not flexible?
Bikram yoga is not about how flexible you are. It's about stretching and strengthening your body to make you healthier and feel better. Strength and flexibility will follow.

You will feel challenged by the yoga as everyone does.
That is good. Meeting challenges helps us grow and get better. Always work to your edge, but listen to your body.
If you feel dizzy or nauseated, that is normal, just sit down. It will pass. It is your body opening up and getting rid of toxins. It is temporary and when your body acclimates to the class these sensations will disappear.

Remember everyone had their first class. Even the ones in the front row. They make it look easy because they stuck to it and didn't give up.

Take your second class within 24 hours. Then make up your mind to take 10 classes as quickly as possible. You will find big changes after the 10th class if they are done close together.
Then no one has to convince you how good it is. Your friends will notice that smile on your face, how calm you are, how good your skin looks. Not to mention how loose your clothes have become. That is if you can stop talking about it all the time.

OK so let's rock and roll. We look forward to seeing you real soon.
